I couldn't wait to read this book. I had missed Skull&Co sooooooo much!!!!!!!!!!!! I had crushed on Torch forever and it was so cool to see that he was still super funny, and Katie was still the bomb haha Shaft's story took us back to the Devil's Blaze MC and we started where we had left off with Skull and Torch's kids having a birthday party together at the end of book 3 in the Skull and Beth saga. And Shaft is there.I have to admit that I could not remember this man for the life of me from the previous books. I guess I had been too focused on loving Skull, hating Skull, loving Torch, loving Skull, crazy loving Torch. So pretty much nobody else existed but those two. Shaft is 40, he sees Bree, who happens to be 18 and still in high school. They have a connection and decide to pursue it. And, because of that, lots and lots of drama comes their way. They get hit (in Shaft's situation, quite literally) from every direction while they are trying to convince the world that they know what they are doing and that they are destined to be together. There was a little bit of an eek factor for me due to the fact that they both loved it that she was calling him Daddy during sex. I had to totally ignore that so that I could enjoy the really hot sex those two were having. There is also a happy ending and very cute epilogue.
Now I am ready for Beast, even more so than before. I want Beast!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ASAP!!!!!

Let me start by saying CONGRATS Jordan Marie you are an AMAZING writer . Shafted "Jax" is wonderful love his character very male , strong and alpha . Bree is a young lady thats has a strong mind know what she wants . .is mature that falls for the older man turns his life up side down . The part that makes me cry is when Bree stands up to Lucy and her friends because they say nasty things about Beast . I felt like slapping her myself . It was a Wonderful story line made laugh , cry and just want to beat some of the characters up. All in all it was a wonderful book to read Thanks for sharing .
I have never read a Jordan Marie book before but she is now officially one of my favorite authors... and I read A LOT!! You can read this book as a standalone, just like it says, but as I found out...WHY?!! She's such an amazing author you are going to want to know what the other characters went through to to where they are in Shafted and you will need to do what I am doing now going back to book one and getting everyone's story and experiencing more from this awesome author!!
Shaft and Bree had a connection from the moment they saw each other across the room at the club. But first Jax has to deal with the fact that Bree may be 18 but she's still in High School...not to mention her Uncle is the President of his club and her Grandfather is the President of another MC that they are working with. So he knows if he makes a move on this girl he's in for a world of pain...or worse! But seeing another guy just touch her shoulder brings out everything in him that screams "MINE" and the decision is made...He must have her!
Bree may be young but she's lived through so much in her life that people her own age have never held her interest. But the moment she saw Jax everything in her came alive. She must have him!
I love how Jordan Marie writes a MC romance and how she writes about the MC itself! When you get an author who can do both and combine the two so well you an author you know that you will read again and again! So excited to find such an amazing author!!
I want to start off by saying, I love Jordan Marie’s work! She’s an amazing author, but as much as I LOVED her other 3 Devil’s Blaze MC novels, this one didn’t really do it for me. I hate when I’m not fond of a book in a series I love, but there’s always going to be that one that some will like & some won’t. I’m fine with the age difference but I can’t totally get past the alpha being called “daddy”, especially when the female was as young as she was. It’s just not for me. I had a hard time getting into the book until about 1/2 way through (probably due to the “daddy” issue), then it picked up for a little bit, however there was a point where I got confused as to who was talking. I needed to read a little further to figure it out & then go back to the beginning of the chapter so I didn’t get lost. I loved who Shaft/Jax was & I loved that Bree wouldn’t take any crap from anyone, but just wasn’t happy with how this one was written. I did love the ending though. I hate doing these kind of reviews but I know they’re needed. Please don’t let this keep you from reading this series. I plan to read Beast as soon as I get the paperback.
Jax feels like he's washed up in the relationship department, he's forty years old and no woman has ever held his interest long enough to be an old lady. Then walks in this long legged beauty named Aubree who causes him to get hard like a teenage boy. But this girl is just a kid not even out of high school, just 18, but with the body of a woman, and Jax wants her. His pal Keys tells him not to even think about going after her, cause she's the granddaughter of Pops, PREZ of a rival club. But Bree wants Jax as much as he wants her, so Bree offers him a solution that he can't refuse. So here the love/hate relationship begins, with a lot of twists that knocked me off my chair. You will stay enthralled til the very end and might have to take a cold shower along the way!! So excited that Beast is going to get a book, and I hope he finds love and peace.
I would have given this 4 stars, but I can't stand "Daddy" as a sex pet name, especially when the man is old enough to be the woman's father. Other than this, the book was a steamy read, and entertaining albeit somewhat one-dimensional, and lacking a depth of connection that would warrant the risk involved and level of attachment. The secondary intrigue was out in left-field, but I did enjoy the characters and their sensual synergy, as well as, the dominance of Jax/Shaft, the main alpha male character particularly, as portrayed by his apparent, overwhelming desire to treasure and value Bree. Bree, on the other hand, was a bit annoying in a cloying, immature, needy way indicative of her age. Her spunk made up for it, for the most part. Fun read with both good and bad....but such is life.
